Women's History: Milestones Worth Celebrating

2 September 2026 · Global Women's Week

A short look at progress worth remembering — and how far there still is to go.

From the suffrage movements of the early 20th century to landmark equal-pay and anti-discrimination laws decades later, much of the progress in women's rights took sustained, organized, often multi-generational effort — not single dramatic moments.

Representation milestones — the first woman in a given field, government role, or industry — matter beyond symbolism: they visibly expand what the next generation believes is possible for themselves.

The work is ongoing. Pay gaps, leadership representation, and access to healthcare and education still vary widely across the world — which is exactly why events and communities like this one continue to matter.
